Description

DEBENHAM CROSS GREEN TM 16 SE 6/69 Nos.10 & 11 GV II Originally one house, now 2. Early C15 house to left, adapted as a service room when the 2-cell C16 range was built adjacent. Renovated 1970's. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 1 1/2-storey medieval end, remainder 2 storeys. Various casement windows with a single horizontal glazing bar to each light: the upper windows are C19, the lower ones mid C20. 2 mid C20 semi-glazed doors. Internal stack to main range, gable stack to left. No.ll incorporates the end of an adjoining C18 barn. The remainder of this barn is not of special interest. Interior. Modernised. No.10 has exposed studding in rear wall, with 2 diamond-mullioned windows opened out. C16 chamfered floorbeam, the joists concealed. Newel stair behind stack. The medieval end, which comprised hall and service room, is greatly modernised and very little of the structure is exposed; a 2-centre arched doorway at the front is said to be concealed by plaster. Interior of No.ll not examined, the timbers said to be largely concealed. Listing NGR: TM1753163162
