Description

HORHAM THE STREET TM 27 SW 5/54 Church Farmhouse II Farmhouse. In 2 parts: C15 hall range to right, stack and parlour addition of c.1600 to left. C19 brick lean-to at rear of hall range. Timber framed and plastered. Roof over hall range has plaintiles to front and double Roman tiles to rear; parlour has double Roman tiles to front and pantiles to rear. l 1/2-storey hall range, 2-storey parlour. Various old casement windows. Each part has a C20 door. The stack, at the junction of the 2 sections, has an old shaft with an inset panel incorporating a sawtooth course of brickwork. Unmodernised interior. Hall range has arch-braced cambered tie beam over former open hall; the tie beam has been cut through at the centre but probably carried a crown-post. Low inserted floor with chamfered joists set flat. Parlour addition has intact frame and original newel stair. Many C17 doors. Roofspaces not examined. Listing NGR: TM2096872521
