5/87 Former Roman Catholic Chapel, 5 metres east of 14.7.55 Coldham Hall (Formerly listed with Coldham Hall as Chapel)

Former Roman Catholic chapel, c.1800. Red brick; the rear of flint rubble with red brick quoins. Hipped slated roof with parapet on the garden side. 3 mullioned and transomed limestone windows on each long wall, of 6 lights, with hexagonal and diamond leaded panes; in each window a central roundel with a stained glass figure of one of the 12 apostles. 2 framed entrance doors in the end wall with applied nail-head ornament; matching doors at the opposite end flanking the altar. Some fine plasterwork in the Gothick manner; apsidal sanctuary lit from above, framed by an arched opening with plaster architrave and flanking pilasters having obelisk finials; on the opposite end wall a matching blank arch with pilasters. Pilasters also at each bay, supporting timber beams with matchboarded panelled ceiling. Included as Grade II* because a rare and good example of a Roman Catholic chapel built before the Roman Catholic Emancipation Act of 1829.
