Description
TL 85 NE GT.WELNETHAM STANNINGFIELD ROAD
5/108 Tutelina Mill
II
Tower mill, now disused. Dated 1865. Red brick tower with 3 floors above the ground floor. Cap frame intact; cap roof, winding gear and sails missing. Machinery below the curb largely intact including iron upright shaft, mortice (wood and iron) crownwheel, iron spurwheel and one pair of millstones; the second pair has been replaced by a crusher. Auxiliary power was provided by a Crossley oil engine which still survives. A good example of a small, late windmill and one of the very few tower mills in Suffolk which retains the potential for a full restoration.
