Watching brief in advance of construction of a new Canoe Club building. The site was open ground with areas of rough grass. The topsoil was up to 0.2m thick and overlay at least 0.8m of make-up and dumped deposits. These deposits overlay at least 3m of black peat. Foundation trenches for ground beams were excavated to a depth of 0.4m, whilst foul and surface water drains were excavated to a depth of 0.8m. A series of post-medieval walls were discovered in the southern part of the watching brief area (S1).
