Description
2002: An archaeological evaluation was carried out in advance of the cosntruction of a single dwelling. A single trench was excavated. The mapped projection of a Neolithic cursus suggested the site might be the location of one of the main ditches that flanked the cursus. This was not the case as no archaeological features were encountered. However the area of the proposed house was small and could fit between the ditches. The existence of an apparent intact topsoil below a layer of demolition rubble demonstrates that the archaeological horizon can survive below the pre 20th century buildings.
