Description

Evaluation trenching for a proposed swimming pool within the embanked area of a former formal garden, which now has a grass cover, to the rear of the hall did not reveal any archaeological features or any significant finds. A 20m long x 1.5m wide trench was excavated to a depth of 0.4m. A rapid examination of the small later 19th century stables structure to the north of the garden that is planned to be the related pump room did not note any features of particular historical merit and the building will not be altered in order to perform this new function.
