Description
An archaeological evaluation consisting of eleven trial trenches was carried out in the area to the east of the Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Boss Hall. Three trenches revealed 6th to early 8th century Anglo-Saxon Burials confirming the continuation of the cemetery to the east. However, the burials were restricted to the south-western boundary of the site and did not extend further. Five additional trenches were cut to confirm the edge of the cemetery which revealed no finds or features of archaeological interest. Further trenches were excavated in the footprint of the dairy building and revealed no archaeological features but confirmed that the surface of the natural subsoil was largely undisturbed which suggests there is potential for archaeological features to survive.
