Description
In September 2014 Archaeological Solutions Ltd (AS) carried out an archaeological evaluation on land west of Church Farm, Buxhall Road. The evaluation was carried out in compliance with a planning condition attached to planning approval for the proposed erection of two new detached residential dwellings and garages. The site lies on the southern side of the road, within the historic settlement core of Brettenham, and adjacent to the south of the medieval Church of St Mary (BTT 015/BTT 006). A medieval moated site may also be present at the Old Rectory School (HER BTT 018). The site thus has a potential for remains of the medieval and post-medieval settlement at Brettenham.
