Description
Trial trench evaluation was undertaken ahead of an application for planning permission to develop the site for residential housing. DBA and Geophysical survey was conducted in 2012. Ten trial tenches were excavated which targated areas of geophysical features. Eight trenches produced evidence of archaeological features and deposits. The trenches excavated averaged between 0.45-1.8m deep. Topsoil comprised dark brown clayey sand and averaged 0.3-0.6m thick. Subsoil comprised Mid orange brown clayey saned 0.10-0.25m thick (S1).
