Description

A programme of archaeological field walking carried out using the 'Essex Method'. The site was divided into ubits of one hectacre, each numbered individually and defined with reference to the OS grid. The site was further divided into transects spaced 20m apart and aligned north-south. All categories of material were hand collected from the surface of the plough soil and were bagged at 20m intervals. A non-ferrous metal-detecting survey was undertaken where possible.
