Description
An archaeological evaluation was carried out on land at Steeles Road, Woolpit on the 23rd May 2011 during the demolition of eleven properties, prior to redevelopment. Thirteen evaluation trenches were excavated in which no pre-modern features were encountered. In addition, no artefacts were recovered and no environmental samples were taken. This work was Phase 3 of a five phase, staged demolition and reconstruction project. It followed the Phase 1 evaluation, which took place in August 2009 and the Phase 2 evaluation which took place in August 2010. A further 2 stages (Phases 4 and 5) of evaluation are scheduled to take place.
