Description

A gradiometry survey was carried out on land south of High Street, Walton, Felixstowe, Suffolk on behalf of OA East in February 2012. The zigzag traverse method of survey was used, with 1m wide traverses across 30m x 30m grids. The sample interval was 0.25m. A ring ditch was detected along the eastern side of the field with a possible pit at its centre. A series of linear, curvilinear and rectilinear ditches were also recorded across the entire area of investigation that may relate to the Bronze Age activity known to the north and east of the area. Other anomalies recorded relate to a service pipe, former gravel pits and modern ferrous debris.
