Description
91 trenches were excavated which revealed evidence for activity on the site that spanned the Prehistoric to Medieval periods including included a well preserved putative barrow and associated features such as secondary cremations. Post holes and possible round houses, were also recovered as well as a well preserved assemblage of pottery and other finds directly associated with settlement features. The trenches were all 25m in length. The natural geology was overlain by loess: wind blown sands and silts which made features difficult to distinguish.
