Description

Trial trench evaluation was undertaken ahead of the proposed construction of two dwellings following demolition of the existing Wyvern House. No archaeological features or finds were recovered. Though some modern services were present had archaeological features been present, they would have been preserved and recognised. A single trench revealed topsoil, a dark reddish brown, loose, sandy clay with frequent small angular stone and occasional small sub angular flint was 0.12-0.24m thick. Below was the natural clay, a mid greyish yellow, compact, clay 0.12-0.24m below the existing ground level (S1).
