Description
Evaluation trenches were excavated ahead of residential development to the rear of the former public house. It revealed extensive evidence for quarrying type activity of recent date covering over 60% of the development area. 12 trenches were excavated, topsoil was c.0.1-0.25m thick, subosil 0.2m-1.1m and was in most cases re-deposited soil and building debris. The drift geology was orange sand with small flints (S1).
