Description
Trial trench evaluation was carried out ahead of residential development which would occupy a c.0.7ha site. 4 trenches were excavated. The documentary search and minited field evaluation of this site indicate that it has been open and in agricultural use at least since the medieval period. The eastern half of the site has been subject to processes that are likely to have destroyed or seriously damaged any archaeological evidence. However, colluvial deposits in the western area of the site could have aided the preservation of evidence for pre-medieval activity on the site. Only two artefacts were recovered during the evaluation, both fragments of pottery dating from the 13-14th century (S1).
