Description

Evaluation was undertaken ahead of the proposed construction of a new residential development. 8 trenches were excavated. The uppermost topsoil was a firm, dark grey brown silty sand with occasional medium sub-angular and sub-rounded flint (0.24-0.38m). In trenches 1,2,5,6 and 8 it overlay subsoil which was a firm, mid orange brown silty sand with occasional medium sub-angular and sub-rounded flint (0.07-0.37m). At the base of the sequence the natural was a firm,place yellow brown sandy silty with patches of mid orange brown silty sand and occasional medium sub-angular and sub-rounded flint. It was present 0.24-0.77m below the present day ground surface (S1).
