Description

The evaluation fieldwork comprised the excavation of seventeen trenches. With the exception of Trench 15, the trenches measured 30m x 1.8m. All seventeen trenches contained a broadly similar sequence of overburden; 0.26m - 0.41m of dark greyish brown sandy silt topsoil over a layer of yellowish grey-brown silty sand subsoil which varied between 0.08m and 0.3m thick.
