Full Description
Basal looped and pegged spearhead with oval section mid rib. Damaged perforated `loops' in base of blade. Peg holes diagonally crossed with incised `decoration'. Oval socket. Length 37.6 cms, weight 411.05 gms (S1). Found at `Icklingham' in or before 1848 when presented to Suffolk Institute of Archaeology by Mr Bailey (S2).
Pegholes are unusual in a basal looped spearhead and other unusual features such as the diagonal incisions at the peg holes & the oval section indicate possible C19 forgery (S1)(S3).
Probably same as "Bronze-Age spear-head ... in Bury St Edmunds Museum" (S5).
Formerly recorded as IKL MISC
