Full Description
From Reid Moir notebooks, IPSMG:
"22 Feb 1919 - Went with Barnes and Baxter to Purdis Hall in the valley behind the sanatorium - we sank trial holes in 3 old crag pits at the SE portion of the marshes - but failed to reach London Clay. The whole place seemed completely water-logged and no excavations could be carried out without great expense. Decided not to continue excavations at this spot." (S1).
Probably includes pits marked on OS 1:10560 map at TM 2166 4310.
Formerly recorded as PFM MISC
