Full Description

1865: `House of Correction' shown adjoining `County Gaol' (see BSE 073)(S1). Others existed e.g. one established for whole town by Feoffees in 1580, replacing earlier ones for two parishes, in Master Adams Street, now called Bridewell Lane and in 1623 House of Correction, `St Peter's Hospital' set up in Out Risbygate (S2).
