Full Description
Hadleigh town gas works (S1)(R1).
A specially constructed (by 1836) gas works by Brown & May's silk mill works (see HAD 051). It lit the town streets up until 1853 (was the original gas works then relocated?). The gas works on the 1880s OS mapping is certainly some distance from the silkworks site.
