Full Description
Socketed bronze spearhead, complete, circa 20.7 cms long, two rivet holes, 1 broken ? casting flaw or break, mid rib, blade very worn, found digging an allotment on The Avenue on low-lying land which sometimes floods, 1982. Retained by finder. Information and sketch from Norwich Castle Museum, object brought in by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) Beccles Museum where finder took it in for identification (S1).
Note: on 1966 AP (S3) no allotments are shown adjoining The Avenue but allotments are shown adjoining the next road to the S (Common Lane) between the two roads at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) (centre) (just above a 1m spot height) where the ground begins to rise to the W. Possibly from this location or, more likely, from other allotments to the N of `The Avenue' (accessed via a lane from `The Avenue') at (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) which does appear to be more low lying. Location needs checking with finder!
