Type and Period (1)

Full Description

Gilded bronze strap end of Carolingian type of C10, with five silvered bosses (caps on top of bosses). Symmetrical geometric decoration with four lozenge shaped motifs within lozenge shaped fields formed by ?tendrils projecting from bosses. Shield shaped with four attachment holes parallel to straight strap edge (two with rivets surviving). Found with metal detector during charity metal detecting rally, circa June 1990 (S1)(S2).
