Full Description

Bronze cauldron found on ploughed land, 2 ft deep `in lighter sand', rim uppermost (S1).
Cauldron is 22.5cm in diameter and 18.3cm deep. The carinated body is made up of two very thin sheets of bronze rivetted together. There are two deliberate holes in the bottom made from the inside. There is an iron binding to the rim and fragments of two iron escutcheon plates. A detached iron carrying handle was also found. C1 AD. Similar cauldrons are known from Brandon (BRD 037) & Icklingham (IKL 023, 035 & Misc (CRN 10393)).
