Summary

Large group of pottery sherds, mainly coarse ware with a few glazed pieces, and fragments of lava mill stone and a cut half penny of John (AD 1199-1216), found in an area approximately 350 feet by 170 feet across by fieldwalking and metal detecting (S1).

Full Description

Large group of pottery sherds, mainly coarse ware with a few glazed pieces, and fragments of lava mill stone and a cut half penny of John (AD 1199-1216), found in an area approximately 350 feet by 170 feet across by fieldwalking and metal detecting (S1). Small bronze buckle found 1991 (S2).
1993: Further group of material includes a few sherds with sparse flint filler (?C12), also a few probable sherds of Grimston-type jugs, and 3 lead plugs from pottery repairs (S3).
Also BA flint, IA pottery.
Originally Bardwell parish but, since parish boundary changes, now in Stanton.
