Full Description

1991: During the watching brief a scatter of medieval and early post-medieval pottery sherds were located at the eastern edge of field OS.0032. A series of trial trenches were subsequently excavated however no archaeological features were identified. A few medieval pottery sherds were recovered from some of the trenches (S2).
Initial watching brief:- 3 ?flakes, 1 Thetford type ware rim, 1 base & 5 body sherds Med coarseware, 2 body sherds Med glazed ware. Trial trenches:- 8 body sherds Med coarseware, 2 body sherds Rom pottery, 1 body sherd LMed glazed, burnt flints & various PMed sherds and brick/tile fragments. Details in (S1).
