Full Description
Small rectangular dovecote, now demolished. Sale particulars 1911/2 describe it as brick and plain tile. Photographed 1912 by Rev Edmund Farrer: this shows a small rectangular building with a pyramidal roof (covered with tiles) with two axial open gablets near the summit, with, on the slopes of the roof (both below the gablets and on the other slopes) dormers with louvred openings. There is a door in one side and the dovecote is attached on one side to a garden wall. Farrer noted that the dovecote was similar, though smaller, to the dovecote at Nettlestead Chace (NTT 003) and "must have been designed from it" (S1)(S2). There is also a painting of the Tudor Grange dovecote by F G Cotman, dated 1912, now in Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. The site of the dovecote is shown on the O.S. 1:10560.
