Full Description
Brooch, disc type fragment missing outer rim, pin and catchplate. Raised conical centre with central knob (damaged) and 16 triangular radiating enamelled panels - 4 having yellow enamel surviving, rest unclear. Pin held between 2 lugs, gap 2mm. Broken loop projects beyond lugs. Comparable to HCH 001 no. 222 except 16 rather than 12 panels and flat rather than scalloped ends. Also Hattatt no. 537, suggest native type, E England distribution. Metal detected along riverside footpath (S1).
