Full Description
Landscape park in front of Chediston Hall (see CHD 057). Park not shown on Emanuel Bowen's Map of Suffolk 1755 nor on J Hodskinson's Map of Suffolk 1783, but is shown on 1st edition OS map of 1837 (printing of 1878). Park probably created at the same time as the Hall was rebuilt in the 1830s. Park shown and named on the OS 1:10560 map. There are minor variations in the shape of the park as shown on the 1st edition and 1:10560; for the purpose of plotting on the archaeological record map, the earlier outline has been chosen. Now disparked.
Park of 115 acres belonging to George Parkyns Esq., recorded in 1839 Tithe Apportionment (S1).
