Full Description
Moat, occupied, opposite church green, part gone, probably square, on OS map (S1).
Visited by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) as volunteer for SAU August-September 1985. Illustrated report in parish file.
A waterfilled sub-square homestead moat at TM 44768194 is in fair condition and measures 58.0m by 55.0m overall, the arms being 5.0 to 8.0m in width. Much of the E arm and the NE corner are missing, the ground being occupied by farm buildings and stockyards.
A causewayed entrance over the N arm, on the W side of which the moat is inturned, is probably the original entrance to the site.
Church Farm house is externally an 18thc brick building of little interest, in poor condition and not outstanding
