Full Description
June 1993: A small excavation was carried out in the area of a proposed new settlement tank for Anglian Water. A Roman soil layer was uncovered under approximately 1m of modern overburden. Below the Roman soil layer was a spread of deliberately but randomly deposited large flints over an area adjoining Micklemere and the River Blackbourne. No cut features were observed. Roman pottery and tile was recovered from all layers (S1).
