Full Description
Pickard's Hall, remains of moats. Moat around the house clearer on the Tithe Map of 1838/9 (S1). Modern map shows only south side as being of moat size. U-shaped moated enclosure on the west side named as `Paddock', pasture, in 1838/9. No buildings shown in this enclosure in 1838/9.
Site of the manor of Picard alias Pickard's alias Cressener's. John Pykard had a grant of free warren 1305; Nicholas Pykard holder in 1346, Walter Cressener in 1428. Acquired by the Earl of Bristol before 1714 (S2). Owned by Marquess of Bristol 1838/9 (S1).
