Monument record STN 034 - Mayes Plantation, Santon Downham, (Prehistoric)

1993: Dense scatter of worked flint and one fire crackled flint found along circa 2m wide footpath through mixed woodland plantation South East of church overlooking floodplain of River Little Ouse. Finds collected from along footpath for first 10m of scatter (starting at North West end) only (due to failing daylight), which consisted of 34 (5 black, 1 grey, 28 partially or fully patinated including 1 reworked) worked flints. Concentration of finds appeared to continue along footpath for about 50m to South East, possibly further (S1).

Descriptions of flint finds are broad, dating to a specific period bracket is ill-advised. However, they may be later Prehistoric, based on details of discovery, (S2).
