Full Description
Dovecote (site of). A document of 1806 mentions the ` old Dove House of Brick Kiln Close'; this can probably be identified with a small square structure shown on the N edge of the farmyard on an estate map of 1806 (S1). This is still shown on the Tithe Map of 1841 (S2) but has subsequently been demolished - the site now lies in an arable field (S3). A `Dovehouse Close' mentioned in 1705 probably refers to this site, however, a field called Dovehouse Field (recorded in 1806 and 1841) on the west side of the house grounds seems to refer to another dovecote, but neither the 1806 nor the 1841 one show any structure in Dove House Field (S1)(S2).
