Full Description
Alternative site for the Hospital of St Mary Magdalen (also see EYE 025). On the 1839 Tithe Map two fields, now part of the cemetery, are called Magdalen Field. This location, away from the town centre, fits with a description of 1337 when a licence was granted to "... the brethren of the hospital ... without the town of Eye" and that of Jacques Blondell in 1492 who gave "3d to every sick peson in the lazer house at the townsend" (S1).
