Full Description
(3?) Lime kilns at Whorlow's, Newton Road, Sudbury, listed in a trade directory (S1). Exact location not known (not shown on OS 1904, 25 inch map, but possibly on other editions?). Note series of pits along E half of Newton Road (mostly in Chilton & Great Cornard parishes).
In 1551 Henry Spynk of Sudbury was listed as a lime-burner (S2)(R1). In 1583 Robert Raynor of Sudbury was listed as a lime-burner (S2)(R2). In 1646 Henry Ambrose of Sudbury was listed as a lime-burner (S2)(R3). In 1665 George Wells of Sudbury was listed as a lime-burner (S2)(R4).
