Full Description

Metal detected(?) gold tremissis from Frankish Merovingian empire, Quentovic mint. Moneyer DUTTA, probably third quarter of C7, weight 1.26g. Obv: bust facing right, cross behind head, VVICCOFIT (made in vicus of Quentovic). Rev: Cross on base above two parallel bars DUTTA MONET (Dutta Moneyer). Such coins used for high value trade between Frankish empire and eastern England. This example in particularly good condition (S1).
