Full Description
Scatter of Rom building tile c. 30 x 20m in ploughed field. Small hole exposed dense layer of c. 1kg flints at 25cm with tile (including tegulae & brick). No bonded structure but isolated mortar fragments and wall `facing- up' mortar. No pottery was recovered but Mike Hardy had reported pottery when field walking this general area in 1992/3.
Interesting spatial association with Med chapel, HXN 017 (170m to east), reputed to be related to King Edmund martyrdom, i.e. late C9 but never explained why that chapel should be so isolated & distant from known settlement.
Also Modern.
