Full Description
1989: Cropmark of ring ditch, circa 25m in diameter (S1). Location rapidly marked on HER map, probably at cited NGR but may be at TM 2760 4560. AP needs checking for confirmation.
A possible barrow can be seen on an aerial photographs as ring ditch and a soil and possible germination mark, to the north of Spratts plantation, Martlesham Heath, centred on circa TM255456. This feature is very diffuse in appearance, probably partly due to the time of year the photograph was taken and also possibly due to plough damage. As such, the possible ring ditch is poorly defined but may be circa 30 metres in diameter. A dark area within the ring ditch may be the remains of a central feature such as a burial, but again, it is not possible to be sure from the photograph alone. The possible ring ditch was not visible on any other photograph available to the survey. (S1)
2008: An assessment of aerial photographs identified a possible ring ditch and mound both of which might indicate bronze age burial sites. (S2)
