Full Description
Half large (78.5cm diameter, 3.5cm at edge, 8.5cm centre) worn mill stone with central (actually considerably off centre now) circular perforation (c.14cm diameter) and second square perforation (5cm x 4cm) near outside edge. Tooling limited to concentric rings around central perforation - no radial grooves.
Found by Tony Howe (St Edmundsbury BC ranger) in former pit used as landscape lake for wading birds when area drained for further working to S. Probably from redeposited surface material from elsewhere in same pit - not likely to be from more than a few hundred metres away (S1).Note: Also horse cannon bone with stress injury (usually noted in draught oxen) from same general area (S2).
