Full Description
Water mill and water course off River Stour. Shown on Hodskinson's map of Suffolk in 1783 (S1). Possibly (map not accurate) on Bowen's map of 1755 (S2). A watermill `has existed .... since 1619' (S3). An oilmill in 1752 (S4). A later mill is shown further south (see SSM 024) and named as Stratford Mill on OS 1st edition map of 1838 (S3) and later maps. Construction date unknown. No further details.
Note a (water)mill is recorded in Stratford St Mary in the Domesday Survey.
