Full Description
Unditched low linear bank running for approximately 820m across Knettishall Heath. Starts c.120m south of Hut Hill (KNE 001) and runs north in a straight line through mixed deciduous/coniferous woodland until Hut Hill. Unclear relationship with barrow, although bank appears to turn a right angle, continuing in a straight line in a WNW direction for 450m, linking up with the bank around KNE 009. Appears to be subsumed within indistinct bank around the `rabbit warren'. Carries on in a NW direction along path edge and disappears just south of Rushford/Hopton road (recently felled woodland so may have been destroyed). No bank continuing other side of road in pasture south of River Little Ouse.
Average dimensions are 1m wide and 20-25cm high. Bank is at its lowest when crossing heath from KNE 001 to KNE 009.
No land boundaries on 1840 Tithe Map for Knettishall (S1) or on 1905 OS map. Possibly contemporary with Hut Hill, although link with KNE 022 assumes it must be later than this pasture (S2).
