May/June 1995: Monitoring excavation of footing trenches for extension to Northgate Nursing Home revealed extensive evidence of quarrying with the pits having been backfilled with rubbish during the C16 or early C17. Details in (S1)(S2).
Any earlier deposits would have been destroyed by the quarrying activity.
