Full Description
Assymetrical pottery `cone', 187mm long (incomplete). Resembles a curved cattle horn in form. Well fired, dark grey core, exterior is reddish brown around `base' getting darker and greyer towards the tip. Unglazed, with sand & chalk inclusions. Possibly foot of a large tripod vessel or handle of a pipkin or skillet, and therefore probably Med. However, the highly fired fabric may indicate some sort of industrial purpose. A decorative use is also possible but the finish of the object is quite rough (S1).
Formerly recorded as IKL MISC
