Rent - rolls of 1287 record that Sir William de Valence holds a manor (Kentwell) in Melford of 360 acres of land, 4 meadow, 5 pasture, 17 wood and one windmill; & he holds a warren in chief from the King by one knights service (S1). Windmill location unknown (though probably LMD 060). `The Warren' is shown N of the contemporary hall (at cited NGR) and an arable field to the W (centreing TL 856 484) is named Cony Hill on an estate map of 1613.
