Full Description
1995: Archaeological monitoring of series of 9 footing trenches were excavated into archaeological levels within LKH 030. Trenches showed many features and an occupation soil over the north western half of area with sand and chalk natural to the south east. Animal bone and pottery of Roman and Iron Age was found on the surface of the features and the exposed soil. Open service trenches to the south east contained no archaeology. Suggests south eastern boundary of Roman settlement at Caudle Head (see LKH 146 and ERL 023) crosses this site. See monitoring report (S1-S3).
