Full Description

Possible line of possible town ditch between the Southgate (BSE 064) and the River Lark. William of Malmesbury quoted a tradition that Cnut (AD 1016- 1035) had built a ditch round the town (S1)(R1).
An alternative line may run N and then E, as shown on Warren's 1747 map (S2), through the Haberden (see BSE 061).
