Full Description

Hoard of 160 silver plated bronze contemporary forgeries of denarii of Claudius I struck between AD 46 - AD 51 including numerous die links. Photographed and weighed by BM. Found metal detecting by (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) during November - December 1995. 110 coins were reported to BM & Norfolk Museums Service but no location provided.
In August 1996 (afer harvest) the ploughsoil in area c.40m x 120m was turned over by a bulldozer and this activity reported to SCC. Another 50 forged denarii said to be found in this operation. Other finds not fully checked but include 1 Hod Hill brooch fragment and C3-C4 coins (S1). Also said to be 2 Tiberius (AD 14-37) plated coins. Further details in (S3)(S4)(S5).
